STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (WJW) — The Fox 8 I-Team from Nexstar’s WJW has uncovered that Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was stopped early Tuesday morning on suspicion of driving over 100 mph.

As per police documentation from Strongsville, Ohio, located approximately 20 miles from Cleveland, Sanders was pulled over by an officer around 12:24 a.m. on June 17. The report claims Sanders was driving at 101 mph, which is 41 miles per hour above the speed limit.

He was issued a citation. He can choose to fight the ticket in court, or he can pay a fine.

The I-Team obtained the below video of the traffic stop.

Sanders was drafted by the Browns in Round 5 of the NFL Draft. The Browns did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.

Not long after arriving in Cleveland, Sanders, who is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, visited a local high school to speak with students. He answered questions and urged students to make wise choices and heed their parents’ advice.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says last year, more than 83,000 people were given tickets for speeding 20 miles over the speed limit, and more than 3,700 received tickets for going over 100 miles per hour.

The I-Team has done several stories on drivers speeding over 100 mph, including a city firefighter who was clocked driving at 117 mph. Judy Converse has spoken for the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, saying, “There is no excuse for extreme speeds.”
