Storm Team 3: Seasonal Sunday Before Above-Average Heat Builds In

Seasonal temperatures are expected for the remainder of the weekend as we await the heat dome to settle in across our region.

Seasonal Sunday

Sunday morning will begin with the typical warm and humid conditions, with temperatures starting in the low to mid-70s. By the afternoon, they’ll rise into the low to mid-90s.

While a 20% chance of stray showers and storms cannot be ruled out, the rest of the weekend will be primarily rain-free.

Heat Dome Builds In

An extensive high-pressure ridge, often called a heat dome, will establish itself in the Eastern United States for the upcoming week. Expect rain chances to diminish from Monday through Thursday.

Stay safe in the heat by wearing lightweight reflective clothing, keeping hydrated, limiting caffeine and alcohol consumption, and avoiding overexertion.

High temperatures will reach into the mid and upper 90s for a bulk of the area over several days. One thing working in our favor is slightly-lower humidity leading to heat index values below Extreme Heat Warning criteria.

Heat Alerts Possible

However, there will be the possibility of Heat Advisory criteria being met with heat index values between 105° and 110°, especially later in the week. Mornings become warmer and humidity will increase for Thursday and Friday.
