OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Six people were killed in a fiery crash Saturday afternoon in Osceola County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 3:46 p.m. on State Road 60, near South Kenansville Road, troopers said.
A report from the Florida Highway Patrol indicates that an SUV was heading west on State Road 60 while a semitruck was moving east, both coming from west of South Kenansville Road. The SUV’s driver tried to overtake multiple cars but lost control when rejoining the westbound lanes, resulting in the left side of the SUV colliding with the front of the semitruck, as documented in the report.
The impact caused both vehicles to become engulfed in flames, according to FHP.
The tragic accident led to all six individuals inside the SUV — believed to be three adults and three children, according to troopers — becoming trapped and unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are waiting for confirmation of their identities from the medical examiner’s office, as reported by FHP.
The 36-year-old Miami Gardens man who was driving the semitruck suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital, troopers said.
FHP is still investigating.
