Chelsea fans made their feelings clear over a potential sale of Conor Gallagher this summer with a huge banner against Tottenham.

Gallagher could be sold by Chelsea this summer with one year left on his contract and no sign of any negotiations.

Tottenham are best poised to snap up the England international, who has come up through the Blues academy and has been priced at £50million.

On Thursday night at Stamford Bridge, the home crowd made their opinions loud and clear regarding a potential sale, especially with Spurs visiting.

A huge banner was carried across by the supporters of Gallagher, with the caption: “Chelsea since birth.”

Chelsea’s number 23 was instrumental in their first goal, scored by Trevoh Chalobah. He expertly served a free-kick from the right, which Chalobah then magnificently headed beyond Guglielmo Vicario.

Gallagher, a native of Epsom near the club’s training ground in Cobham, has won over the fans at Stamford Bridge with his determined performances in the midfield and unwavering energy.

Mauricio Pochettino has named him as stand-in captain with Reece James and Ben Chilwell injured and he was instrumental in their latest display.

Battling back from 2-0 down to Aston Villa, Chelsea earned a 2-2 draw with a goal from Gallagher, as well as an assist.

In total, the 24-year-old has six goals and eight assists in all competitions across 45 appearances.

Chelsea sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart are present at Stamford Bridge and would have no doubt seen the banner, which Gallagher’s brother Jordan praised on social media site X.

However, the club’s financial troubles might force them to the negotiation table anyway after splashing out over £1bn on players since Clearlake Capital took over.

It has meant that some players might have to leave to balance the books with academy stars being linked with departures as ‘pure profit’ sales.

That simply means that, because they did not cost a transfer fee, whatever price they are sold for, the entire fee goes into the bank.

It is one of the reasons why Lewis Hall and Ian Maatsen were allowed to leave, albeit both on loan to Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Hall will sign for Newcastle in the summer for a fee of £35m while Dortmund have already indicated that they are very happy with Maatsen, who can sign for the same fee.
