ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (BLOOM) — The Penny Lane Beatles Museum, a well-loved destination in Dunedin, is set to move to downtown St. Petersburg. This relocation will allow the museum to grow into a historic building nearly four times larger than its present venue.

As reported by the Tampa Bay Times, the museum’s future home will be the Palais Royale building, a 1926 edifice at 146 Second St. N., positioned just a short walk from several major cultural sites in the city. The new location is anticipated to open by mid-2026.

Established by Dr. Robert Entel, a radiologist with a lifelong passion for collecting Beatles memorabilia, the museum has been situated in a modest, second-floor space in downtown Dunedin since 2017. With just 560 square feet available, the current site has restricted the amount of memorabilia that can be showcased simultaneously.

Entel told the Times he’s been collecting Beatles memorabilia for decades, including rare instruments, clothing worn by the band, and a variety of vintage toys, games, and promotional items from the height of Beatlemania. The new space, totaling 2,100 square feet, will finally allow many of those pieces to be showcased.

Museum director Vicky Fulop said the current location can be difficult for visitors to find and is only open four days a week. The expanded downtown St. Pete location is expected to offer greater visibility and access, along with extended hours.

The new site is being designed by Creative Arts Unlimited, a Pinellas Park-based firm known for its museum and exhibit work across the Southeast. The museum will join St. Petersburg’s growing roster of arts institutions, just steps from the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art and the Museum of the American Arts and Crafts Movement.

Entel said he hopes the move will make the Beatles museum a more integral part of the region’s cultural landscape. “St. Petersburg is so welcoming, it’s Museum City, basically,” he told the Tampa Bay Times.
