OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) Sunday night, the Thunder held the NBA Championship Trophy in front of a sold out Paycom Center.

However, there is one other NBA Trophy you maybe haven’t seen yet. It is one that you can truly sink your teeth in.

“It took a few hours, I would say about 3 hours to put all the way together,” Nicole Tissington, OKC Cake Lady said.

Nicole Tissington is knows as the “OKC Cake Lady” and she is showing off her latest creation, a replica of the Larry O’Brian Championship Trophy.

“I started the cake the day before Game 6 and finished it the day of Game 6 before the game started,” Tissington said. “Unfortunately, we didn’t win that game.”

Although nerves set in after the Game 6 blow-out loss in Indiana, she knew her team would pull through and her work wouldn’t go to waste.

“Honestly, I said, you know what? At home, we’re going to win this at home. I said, it’s all good. I’m not worried about it,” Tissington said.

The Thunder did not let her down, allowing her to showcase her culinary masterpiece.

“I use fondant,” Tissington said. “There’s gold airbrush that you can buy that’s edible. Then I airbrush the cake with the gold and on this specific cake, obviously, the entire thing is gold.”

She says she had to study the NBA Trophy ahead of time too.

For each year of the NBA playoffs or the NBA finals, the trophies are different for each one,” Tissington said. “So, for this specific one, the bases were round. So, I had to buy things to get the base for it and make sure it was leaning.”

Monday morning, she cut into it, seeing the Thunder blue before trying it for a taste test.

Now, it’s in people’s bellies because we actually cut the cake up and gave it out to family members,” Tissington said. “I’ll give out cakes when possible, depending on which cake it is.”

Tissington says her journey alongside the Thunder this season has been magical. She has been able to create cakes she thought she would never have the opportunity to do.

She says she is looking forward to what may come next.

It was so fun,” Tissington said. “I feel like I got more into this season than any other season. That’s my last thunder cake. We’ll see what happens next season. Yeah, we’ll see what happens next season. I’ll leave it at that.”

The OKC Cake Lady says she is looking forward to getting creative with Thunder themed cakes again next year.

This offseason, she plans to complete her other custom cake orders.
