A California-based fitness influencer was allegedly gunned down by her ex-husband, who also shot and killed a man she was on a date with.
On Saturday, Gloria Zamora, aged 40, and Hector Garduno, 43, were shot in the parking lot of a sushi restaurant in Fontana. According to Steve Reed, an officer from Fontana Police, Zamora was in the process of divorcing her estranged husband, Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, 45, who is accused of committing the shooting. This information was shared with local ABC affiliate KABC.
Lizarraga was subsequently shot and killed by an off-duty deputy from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office after he attacked Zamora, a mother of seven, and Garduno, a father of four daughters. The tragic incident has sparked support for their families, with fundraising efforts underway.

Reed explained that Lizarraga had initially targeted Garduno before aiming his weapon at Zamora. The gunfire drew the attention of several off-duty law enforcement officers who happened to be near the restaurant on Summit Avenue at the time.
The unnamed, off-duty sheriff’s deputy drove toward the source of the sound and exited his vehicle to confront Lizarraga. He then fatally shot Lizarraga.
Zamora and Garduno were taken to the hospital, where they died from their gunshot wounds.
Several sources, including The Huffington Post, reported that Zamora had openly discussed her pending divorce on the Herizon podcast. Zamora, a fitness influencer with around 150,000 Instagram followers, had described the toxic aspects of her relationship with Lizarraga on an episode released on June 16, less than a week before her death.
During the podcast, Zamora discussed how her marriage to Lizarraga — her second marriage — was “falling apart,” describing how her growing popularity as an influencer had a negative impact on their relationship.
Zamora told Herizon host Isene, “Instead of [him] being supportive, [he’s] over here trying to, like, bring me down,” including making disparaging remarks about her appearance. The clip was posted to Instagram with the caption, “With husbands like these, who needs enemies?”
