The driver of the car was arrested inside the mall with the assistance of patrons, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

ORANGE PARK, Fla — A police chase ended in arrests at the Orange Park Mall Thursday, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office said.

The officers were in pursuit of a pair of minors who stole a car, according to Clay County Fire Rescue.

In a Facebook update, the CCSO reported that a vehicle had been stolen and was seen driving through Clay County, specifically on Blanding Boulevard near the Academy Sports Store, around 1:40 p.m.

Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver “recklessly” evaded capture. The vehicle continued north on Blanding, hitting several other cars in the process, according to CCSO. The minors eventually drove into the Orange County Mall parking lot, abandoned the vehicle, and ran into the mall.

Patrons in the mall helped deputies find them and take them into custody.

The driver was arrested on multiple charges and the passenger was released, CCSO said.
