TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A pattern change is taking place today which will shift the timing and location of showers and thunderstorms.
An onshore breeze is attempting to form, bringing the chance of occasional morning showers near the coast. These showers will be scattered until midday, gradually shifting inland during the afternoon and evening. Most storms will remain east of I-75, though one or two may drift back toward the coastline by sunset.
There is a possibility for a couple of storms to become strong or severe today. Expect potentially damaging winds and hail reaching up to one inch in the most intense storms. Most of the storms will likely produce frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.
This pattern will be in place through the weekend with scattered showers and storms each day. Storms meander and could lead to localized flooding.
Temperatures will approach the seasonal norm throughout the weekend, peaking in the lower 90s. However, it will feel slightly more humid due to the wind coming in from the warm Gulf waters.
