ForbesNYT ‘Strands’ Hints, Spangram And Answers For Friday, June 27

Well well well, I’m back. It’s been a couple weeks since I guided you through one of these Strands puzzles. Back then, we weren’t even quite half-way through June. Time flew and here we are. The end is nigh. Here comes July. Let’s uncover some words for this Saturday grid shall we?

Strands is the newest game in the New York Times’ stable of puzzle games. It’s a fun twist on classic word search games. Every day we’re given a new theme and then tasked with uncovering all the words on the grid that fit that theme, including a spangram that spans two sides of the board. One of these words is the spangram which crosses from one side of the grid to another and reveals even more about the day’s theme.

Spoilers ahead.

Today’s Strands Hints

Read on for today’s theme and some hints to help you uncover today’s words. Instead of giving you the first two letters of each word, today I’m giving out three hints instead of two.

What Are Today’s Strands Answers?

Here’s the full list of words:

  • CAMERA
  • TOYS
  • CLOCK
  • FLASHLIGHT
  • REMOTE

Here’s the completed Strands grid:

Today’s Strands Breakdown

This was an interesting Strands. The spangram—BATTERIESREQUIRED—is all on the left side of the grid instead of intersecting it. I actually found this one first. I found BATTERIES, which I knew was the . . . in the theme and when that didn’t work I searched more and found REQUIRED. Of course, my mind turns to the old movie Batteries Not Required, which is a wonderful old film from 1987 that I watched a bunch of times as a kid.

From here it was pretty easy. TOYS was in the other corner. CLOCK was just below that and cordoned off CAMERA. I mopped up the last couple words soon enough.

How did you do on your Strands today? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook.
