Chicago crime: Joshua Rowell charged with assaulting clerk for federal judge in the Loop, US Attorney's Office says

CHICAGO (WLS) — A man has been charged with assaulting a clerk for a federal judge in the Loop.

Officials said the assault happened Tuesday afternoon outside of the Dirksen Federal Building.

A 36-year-old man from Chicago, named Joshua Rowell, has been charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for reportedly assaulting a clerk by hitting her on the side of her face, resulting in a concussion.

Rowell facing a charge of forcible assault of a federal employee, officials said.

The suspect was arrested by Chicago police after the assault.

“Under my leadership, any assaults against federal employees or at federal buildings in the Northern District of Illinois will not be tolerated,” stated U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros. “It is our duty to ensure that federal workers and residents of the Northern District of Illinois can commute and enjoy the downtown areas and Chicagoland without fear of being attacked. Anyone who commits such attacks will face immediate prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.”
