Jana Kramer, ‘One Tree Hill’ Alum, Says Financial Pressure Led to Career Choices She Regrets

Jana Kramer is opening up about the realities of being a working single mom in the spotlight — and the choices she’s made to support her family.

“I mean, there are certainly some ads where I think, ‘Oh, I wish I could have gone back and maybe not done that ad,’” she mentioned to Fox News Digital while discussing her new single with Jessie James Decker. “But… when you need to meet that child support payment, it’s just like, ‘Well, this is a good check. I’m going to take this.’”

Decker interjected, asking if she was referring to the “vibrator” commercial, causing both women to burst into laughter. “It’s OK, honestly, it is what it is,” Decker commented.

Kramer continued, laughing, “I’m not gonna do it again… we’re leveling up to a different [place].”

She further added, “I am the sole provider… I have a great deal of pressure on my shoulders to provide for my kids. And so, I think that aspect sometimes takes precedence over my moral compass.”

Kramer shares two children with ex-husband Mike Caussin and a third with current husband Allan Russell. “We could be on OnlyFans, but we’re not, right?” she joked. “There’s a level where I don’t want to go to.”

Kramer and Decker’s single “Do It in Heels” is out now, and it’s a sharp left from the heartbreak themes Kramer is known for. “I’m so sick and tired of the like, ‘He hurt me, he cheated on me,’” she said. “I want fun… I want to write just a girl anthem.”

She wrote the song two years ago and knew she wanted Decker to join her — even though she hesitated to ask. “I’m still, you know, semi-insecure with my music,” she said.

But Decker loved it. “I was like, I’m down. Let’s do it,” she said. “It was great, it was catchy… I related to it.”

The duo also opened up about early “rivalry” rumors. “I remember not knowing if you liked me in the beginning,” Decker said.

“Once we met and talked, it was like ‘Did we just become best friends?’” she added.

Decker praised Kramer’s strength through personal trauma: “She is so unbelievably strong… she didn’t give up. And because of that, she has found the man of her dreams.”

Kramer said she’s learned to value herself more: “I found an incredibly respectful, loving man. And… as long as I continue to do the work and heal and grow… it’s going to be always light years different.”

As for the new track’s message, Decker said: “I think sometimes women can be so hard on themselves… but the message of this song [is], ‘I’m doing it, and I’m doing it well, and doing it in heels.’”
