ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — This weekend, countless people gathered along Bayshore Drive in St. Petersburg. Some were enthusiastic about creating new memories, while others were there to honor long-standing traditions during one of the city’s liveliest events.

“This is our first time in St. Pete,” one parade-goer shared, capturing the excitement of newcomers.

For many, Pride in St. Pete has been a lifelong tradition.

“This has been the best experience of my life for the last 40 years living in St. Petersburg, and 22 years of Pride,” another attendee said.

The yearly parade painted the area in vibrant rainbow hues and filled it with joyful energy, as floats and performers made their way down Bayshore. Enthusiastic crowds gathered along the path to catch beads and celebrate the community spirit.

“I am excited to be out tonight. Literally just having fun and enjoying everybody. Enjoying, like, the ignorance. And just enjoying being happy and love,” one attendee shared with us.

“I like to watch companies come by showing they support our rights and freedoms,” another attendee added, highlighting the importance of corporate and community support.

For many, Pride is about honoring cherished traditions while making new memories.

“It means a lot; if she was to go away, it would be a memory I probably can’t get back,” one person said about sharing Pride with a loved one.

This year’s parade was one of the largest in St. Pete, and attendees said the turnout proved there’s strength in numbers

“It’s just great to live in a place where everybody’s loving and caring, and to celebrate that no matter what color, race, or anything like that,” one participant shared.

As the night went on, the message was clear:

“It’s Pride, baby, it’s what it’s all about.”
