JASPER COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Three people were recovered after drowning in a local river on Saturday night in Jasper County, Illinois.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department reported that shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, a call was received regarding the potential drowning of several individuals in the Embarras River, located just northwest of Ste. Marie.
Authorities responded to the scene, and recovered the bodies of three victims from the water. No names have been released at this time.
More than twelve local agencies were dispatched to the location, including Crawford County Rescue, Vincennes Township Fire Department, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Wade Fire Department, Jasper County Ambulance Service, Jasper County EMA, Oblong Fire Department, Crooked Creek Fire Department, Dieterich Fire Department, Greenup Ambulance Service, Jasper County Coroner, Montrose Fire Department, Newton Police Department, and Robinson Fire Department.
