Game over for footy power couple: Inside the 'sudden break-up' of NRLW's poster girl and her State of Origin star boyfriend

When Jaime Chapman and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow announced their relationship in December of last year, they quickly rose to become the most talked-about couple in Australian rugby league.

But now, just over six months later, there are very strong signs that the two footy superstars have called it quits off the field.

Chapman is often seen as the face of the NRLW, having started her professional journey with St George in 2021, later playing for the Broncos, and currently showcasing her skills with the Gold Coast Titans.

Tabuai-Fidow’s professional path has been similar to Chapman’s. He started with the Cowboys in 2020 and then transitioned to the Dolphins in 2023, establishing himself as one of the sport’s most exhilarating players, with impressive performances for Queensland and Australia.

However, a detailed look at both stars’ social media accounts provides eye-opening evidence they could have abruptly split up.

Until recently, Chapman’s Instagram account featured many photos of her and the man known to fans as ‘the Hammer’.

But it now seems Tabuai-Fidow has been completely erased from her page, which now features only shots of her playing and spending time with family, friends and teammates.

Even more tellingly, Chapman no longer follows the Dolphins winger on the platform.

Tabuai-Fidow’s Instagram still features two posts showing him with Chapman – but there used to be many more.

One of the posts shows them in a video they recorded for the Fatfish e-bikes business, which appears to sponsor both stars.

The other shows them holding hands while Chapman takes a selfie and is accompanied by the caption ‘My love’ with a red-heart emoji.

Tabuai-Fidow also still follows Chapman – who was not present when he celebrated playing his 100th game by scoring four tries against Souths in the Dolphins’ big win on June 28.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted both players for comment.

One of their most recent public appearances together came on May 1, after Chapman’s Blues team steamrolled Queensland 32-12 in the first match of the State of Origin series.

In heartwarming scenes, she went to the sidelines to greet friends and family after the win and kissed and hugged her man, who was holding a huge cardboard cut-out of her face.

Before the match, there was speculation about how the couple would deal with being on opposite sides of the hotly contested interstate battles.

‘It’ll be pretty weird when it comes around,’ Tabuai-Fidow told NITV News.

‘But she’s got my support.’

Chapman said she would support Tabuai-Fidow when he runs out for the Maroons – but drew the line at backing the Cane Toads.

‘I’ll support him no matter what he does and no matter what team he plays for,’ she said.

‘I’ll be going for him… but not the Maroons.’

Footy supporters were overjoyed when the romance became public through one of Chapman’s Instagram posts.

Fellow women’s representative stars Jessica Sergis and Kezie Apps responded with love-heart emojis, while numerous footy fans also weighed in on the glamour couple.

‘Most athletic child in the world,’ one supporter wrote in response.

Another said, ‘Move over Nathan & Mary’, a cheeky comparison to Panthers superstar Nathan Cleary and his girlfriend, Matildas and Manchester City attacking ace Mary Fowler.

A third posted: ‘They will have the fastest babies.’

A fourth said in jest: ‘History has been made, officially the fastest couple on earth.’

Chapman has unfollowed Tabuai-Fidow during a turbulent year that has seen her suffer a broken vertebrae, return to star for NSW, then fall victim to an AI deepfake

The signs of a split come during a very turbulent year for Chapman, who has battled through an agonising injury and a shocking deepfake scandal that resulted in a police investigation.

The 23-year-old fractured a vertebrae in her lower spine when she was playing for the Indigenous All Stars against the Maori All Stars on February 15, but managed to return to the field around two months later after being forced to barely move for a fortnight in the early stages of her recovery.

‘I’ve never broken a bone before, so [it was a] pretty hectic one,’ she said.

‘It was quite painful. The way I pulled up extremely sore the next day I knew something was wrong.

‘I was very lucky with the type of break it was and where it was.’

Last month Queensland Police launched an investigation after the Titans star was the victim of AI deepfake photos that circulated on social media.

She took to Instagram to slam the ‘scary’ and ‘damaging’ impact of the images on her.

‘Have a good day to everyone except those who make fake AI photos of other people,’ she wrote.

‘AI is scary these days.

‘Next time think of how damaging this can be to someone and their loved ones.

‘This has happened a few times now and it needs to stop.’

Her words were accompanied by what appears to be the original image that was subsequently doctored.

Before it became the subject of a deepfake, the photo showed Chapman taking a selfie as she sat on a bed in a gold bikini.
