A Massachusetts man is accused of stabbing his mother’s longtime boyfriend after their ongoing conflict erupted into violence, as reported by the victim’s family.
The Middleborough Police Department announced the arrest of 41-year-old Andrew Horsman, charging him with the murder of Paul Pomerleau, 66. According to a police press release, officers were dispatched following several 911 calls around 8 p.m. on Sunday, indicating a fight in a residential area of Middleborough. Upon arrival, they found Pomerleau with “multiple stab wounds,” and he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared deceased.

Police reports indicate that Horsman and Pomerleau engaged in an argument shortly before the incident. There were numerous witnesses to the confrontation, and family members informed local ABC affiliate WCBV of a long-standing feud between Horsman and his mother’s partner, which escalated over the weekend.
Local CBS affiliate spoke to Jeff Burr, a neighbor who said he knew Pomerleau for “30 years” and told the outlet, “I’ll tell you, he was like a gentle giant. He was a great guy. He’d give you the shirt off his back. You know, he really would.”
Pomerleau’s family said in a statement obtained by WCVB, “My dad was a deeply loving father. He had a way of making everyone feel like family and was endlessly dedicated to his kids and grandchildren.”
Details about the nature of the argument between Horsman and Pomerleau were not made public.
Police said that Horsman was identified by witnesses at the scene and taken into custody without incident. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at Wareham District Court after being charged with murder by the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
