A Sydney man who allegedly choked a woman he met on a dating app and raped and kidnapped another woman has been charged.
A strike force was established earlier this year to investigate allegations that a 44-year-old man had sexually assaulted, choked and kidnapped a 35-year-old woman between 2021 and 2023 in the Burwood area.
During the investigation, police linked the man to a second alleged assault.
The same man allegedly choked a 52-year-old woman he met on a dating app last year.
Police stormed a home on Sibbick Street in Russell Lea yesterday, where they arrested the 44-year-old.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with 15 domestic violence-related offences, including eight counts of sexual intercourse without consent, two counts of stalking/intimidation, intentionally recording an intimate image without consent and taking/detaining a person with intent to obtain advantage.
The man was refused bail and will face Parramatta Local Court today.
Investigations are ongoing.
