AUGUSTA, GA. () – Richmond County Sheriff, Gino Brantley, is praising three inmates for “doing the right thing”.

In a Facebook post, he praised Michael Strickland, Randy Cotton, and Bobby Price for their act of honesty and integrity while working on a landscaping task along Mike Padgett Highway.

The post explained that last week, these men found a firearm and illegal drugs. Instead of ignoring it, they made the commendable decision to report it right away—contributing to the removal of a dangerous weapon and drugs from our community.

As Sheriff Gino Brantley reminded them: “Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, speaks volumes about your character.”

Each of them received a special commissary gift basket from Major Chester Huffman as a small token of appreciation for their actions.

The sheriff’s office stated, “We believe in acknowledging good decisions, regardless of whether the person wears a uniform or not, and encouraging the positive change that everyone is capable of making.”
