Watch What Happens on the House Floor After Speaker Johnson Announces OBBB Passage

During C-SPAN’s broadcast, Johnson revealed the final vote count in the House, confirming that Trump’s reconciliation bill cleared with a narrow margin of 218-214. He declared the “motion is adopted” while officially sealing it with a gavel strike.

First, the room erupted in cheers and applause as Johnson smiled about actually being able to get Trump’s OBBB done ahead of the July 4th holiday.Β

However, it was the moment immediately following that caught my attention, and I figured you might appreciate it, too.

Following the announcement, a chorus of “USA” erupted from several members, swiftly gathering momentum as additional legislators joined in the patriotic chant, echoing “USA! USA! USA!”

Our sister site, Townhall.com’s Katie Pavlich, noted the moment as well with her post on X.

“The Big Beautiful Bill has passed,” Pavlich wrote. “Chants of USA! USA! USA! Break out on the House floor.”

This enthusiastic chant is one many of us cherish, likely familiar from a young age before comprehending the significance of those letters in our lives. It resonates more as a battle cry for some. Even if a few Democrats might have discreetly joined in (away from watchful eyes), it ultimately seems inconsequential. Doesn’t it?

RedState’s Susie Moore reported on Johnson’s speech for the ages before the OBBB officially passed.

Indeed, it was closer to 20 minutes, but Johnson made the most of it, beginning with some much-welcomed humor when he kicked it off by plunking a giant binder down on the podium, as though he were preparing to match (or outlast) Jeffries.Β

She then noted some of the highlights of his speech and how he pointed out that it’s time for all Americans to celebrate because of the bill’s passage.

A snippet can be read below:

“I mean this sincerely, I thank my colleagues for standing – we all should be united in that. We are, we are. We have squabbles, we have partisan debates and all of this, but at the end of the day, we’re all Americans, man. And we’ve gotta believe that, we’ve gotta know it, we’ve gotta recognize that we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world β€” it’s not even close.Β

“USA! USA! USA!”
