Oglethorpe Mall Reopens Following Shooting Incident on July 2nd

SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The Oglethorpe Mall has reopened for the first time since the shooting on July 2nd.

Employees from several businesses inside the mall were seen walking through the doors Friday morning.

The Savannah Police Department (SPD) identified a woman whose death was linked to heart complications worsened by the incident involving gunfire. Olislene “Tina” Smith passed away around midnight on Friday.

SPD reports indicate that officers responded to the scene at roughly 5:41 p.m. following shooting reports and found three individuals with gunshot injuries. Chatham County EMS took the victims to Memorial Health University Medical Center for additional medical care.

No arrests have been made as of Friday morning, however SPD will be working closely with the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days to determine appropriate charges and to whom.

The store hours for the Fourth of July at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
