Homer hosts Freedom and Music Festival

Homer Organizes Festival Celebrating Freedom and Music

HOMER, Ill. (WCIA) — The Village of Homer held its Freedom and Music Festival — an annual Fourth of July Festival — Thursday and Friday.

The event featured an all-day celebration with activities like cornhole, a variety of local vendors, food trucks, and live music performances. Bands that played included Kolton Taylor & The Truck Toppers, X-Krush, The Wise Guys, Logan Allen, Caleb Cook Band, Boardertown & Co, and Big Guns.

“One of the key goals was to encourage people to come out, play some games, enjoy delicious food, and spend quality time with family,” said Sharon Jeffers, Homer’s City Clerk. “It’s about celebrating the 4th of July here with friends and family, capped off with a spectacular fireworks show in the evening.”

Jeffers made sure there were kid friendly events too.

“We’ll also have bingo for the kids with plenty of prizes,” Jeffers mentioned. “This evening, there’s an hour dedicated to the kids, where they can enjoy music at a disco jam party in the village hall complete with fun lights.”

Fireworks end Friday night’s entertainment at dusk. Jeffers said she hopes this event continues to happen for years to come.
