Kristen Doute is quite proud of her engagement ring. And understandably so.

Just weeks after welcoming her first child, Kaia Lily Broderick, The Valley cast member shared another peek into her new role as a mom and her impressive custom jewelry. Kristen posted an Instagram Story showcasing her ring and a fresh manicure while her baby girl nestled on her lap.

“Left the house, got my nails done today so I could show off my ring again,” she captioned the post, tagging her fiancé, Luke Broderick. “Love the way it looks next to squeaks.”

Kristen Doute’s engagement ring was eight years in the making

Fans first glimpsed Kristen’s engagement ring in September 2024, just after Luke proposed during a trip to Hawaii. The ring was crafted by the couple’s close friend, Kyle Chan, who understood Kristen’s vision perfectly. The Los Angeles-based jeweler discussed the design in a 2024 interview with Us Weekly, noting that Kristen had been envisioning her engagement ring since 2016.

“She told me she would love to have an emerald-cut diamond ring,” Kyle told the outlet. “Her ring is a 14-karat white gold ring, with the center diamond being a special elongated emerald cut at 4.27 carats. There is a hidden white diamond halo which represents the love around the center diamond, ‘Kristen.’”

Luke shed more light on the ring on The Valley After Show, saying he devoted a lot of time and effort to finding the perfect design.

“She knew what she wanted,” he said. “She did show me a picture at one point that she showed [Kristen’s ex-boyfriend Brian] Carter, years before… It’s not the exact same one. She told me, ‘I used to have a big board,’ or whatever, so ‘Let me see if I can find a picture of something I sent at some point.’”

Luke said Kristen gave him a ring budget, insisting he steer clear of any design that cost more than $10,000; however, as seen in The Valley Season 2, Episode 6, the sparkler had a price tag of $14,000.

“It’s gorgeous. It’s a statement,” Luke said before joking about the cost. “It’s a statement saying, ‘I want to look like I have more money than I do.’”

Months after Luke popped the question, he and Kristen announced they were expecting baby No. 1. The happy couple said they have since put their wedding plans on hold as they’re primarily focused on their newborn daughter.

“We’ll probably start talking about that next year. It could happen next year,” Kristen told The Daily Dish about her wedding planning. “I don’t know. I don’t want to wait too long, but I think we need to settle into being parents and this whole chapter of our lives and really know what we’re doing before we try to plan anything else.”

“We’ll see how long it takes to really get a handle on it to where we can start planning a wedding,” Luke added, “But yeah, I try not to get too far ahead of myself.”
