Authorities report that a man in Florida allegedly admitted to attacking a woman in a parking lot using a rock and screwdriver. During the assault, he reportedly struck her with the rock and used the screwdriver to hold her captive, committing the crime in broad daylight last week.

At 41, Daysnel Hernandez is accused of dragging the victim to an underpass located near 777 NW 72nd Ave. in unincorporated Miami-Dade County. He allegedly attacked the woman around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday to sexually assault her, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Police say it was the first of two attacks that Hernandez allegedly unleashed on local women last week, with a female hotel employee being “physically assaulted” on Friday at the Doral Inn & Suites at 1212 NW 82nd Avenue in Doral, according to local CBS affiliate WFOR. He is charged with attempted second-degree murder, armed kidnapping, sexual battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and armed burglary in connection to both attacks.

Hernandez was reportedly taken into custody for the hotel incident initially. He allegedly confessed to “raping” a woman in Miami-Dade County after being read his Miranda rights, per WFOR.

“According to investigators, Daysnel Hernandez approached a white female victim and struck her in the back of the head with a rock,” MDSO officials said in a press release Saturday. “The defendant proceeded to cover the victim’s mouth and held a screwdriver to her neck, forcing her to perform sexual acts on him.”

Hernandez’s arrest report, which was obtained by WFOR, details the alleged attack on the woman last Thursday. He allegedly punched the victim “multiple times” as she tried to break free and run away, but to no avail.

“The victim begged [Hernandez] not to kill her because she was in fear for her life,” the report says, according to WFOR.
