CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley announced through social media Saturday that her mother has passed away.
Haley’s mother, Raj Kaur Randhawa, died on July 4, according to the post.
“She had a vibrant spirit, was entertaining, intelligent, and had a sharp sense of humor. She was deeply devout and generous. I truly believe she chose to leave us on the 4th of July because she wanted to make a memorable exit. She cherished this country and all the opportunities it afforded her, my father, and our family for more than five decades. Her family was her greatest love,” Haley expressed.
The news of her mother’s death comes a little over a year after her father, Ajit Singh Randhawa, died on Father’s Day 2024.
“My resolve and strength are her legacy. I am eternally proud to be my mother’s daughter. I hope she is now reunited, holding hands with my father,” Haley continued.
Haley was the governor from 2011 to 2017 before she assumed the role of United States Ambassador to the United Nations. She later campaigned for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
