A prime example occurred on Sunday when he executed a shoestring catch on Juan Soto’s sinking line drive in the bottom of the seventh. He followed up with a powerful throw to first base, doubling off Francisco Lindor, as the Yankees and Mark Leiter Jr. were aiming to maintain their two-run advantage.

Zach Pop, a recent temporary addition to the Mets’ patchwork bullpen, had a rough first game with his new squad. He allowed three runs on five hits in just 1 ⅓ innings, which hindered the Mets’ chance to achieve a Subway Series sweep during a bullpen-driven game.

Unsung hero

Tim Hill came in with a runner on base and two outs in the seventh inning, pitching 1 ⅓ innings without allowing a run, helping the Yankees hold on to their two-run lead into the ninth. Devin Williams then stepped in to seal the victory with a save.
