COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. () – Augusta Technical College has teamed up with Columbia County Fire Rescue to offer its firefighters a pathway to earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire & Emergency Services Occupation.

As stated by the college on Monday, this initiative is exclusively tailored for the current staff of Columbia County Fire Rescue, aiming to boost their skills and enhance the department’s overall performance.

“This chance demonstrates our dedication to internal development,” remarked Fire Chief Jeremy Wallen. “By prioritizing the education of our firefighters, we’re not just strengthening our department—we’re also guaranteeing that Columbia County continues to benefit from exceptional fire and emergency medical services delivered by highly skilled professionals.”

“We are proud to collaborate with Columbia County Fire Rescue in creating a pathway that empowers their firefighters to grow professionally while continuing to serve the citizens of Columbia County with excellence,” said Interim President Dr. Melissa Frank-Alston.

The announcement of Augusta Tech’s partnership with Columbia County Fire Rescue comes as the college debuted its degree program partnership with Augusta Fire Department last month.
