Regé-Jean Page is returning to his romance roots with his newest project.
Deadline has announced that the breakout star from Bridgerton will be starring in the Apple TV+ series adaptation of the well-loved romance novel, Funny You Should Ask. The actor, along with his producing partner Emily Brown, will also serve as executive producer through their A Mighty Stranger Production company.
The 2022 novel, authored by romance writer Elissa Sussman, tells the story of a young journalist filled with wanderlust who interviews a Hollywood heartthrob. A decade later, they reunite, allowing her to learn his true feelings towards her.
In the book, the heartthrob in question is next in line to play James Bond, a role which many fans have wished to see Page play.
The series is still in its early development phase, with Rachel Alter—who has worked on shows like Outer Banks, The Society, and Heels—set to adapt the book for the screen.
Funny You Should Ask will mark Page’s first time returning to television and the romance genre since he became a breakout star in Bridgerton Season 1 playing the dashing Duke of Hastings.
Page has made it clear that he has no plans of returning to the hit Netflix series â no matter how much fans may want him back. But he has enjoyed a busy career in film with roles in Black Bag, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, The Gray Man, and more.
Page certainly has the star power to fuel this buzzy new adaptation for Apple TV+.
This will mark the latest bestseller the streamer has adapted into a limited series since Lessons in Chemistry.
