(The Hill) – X CEO Linda Yaccarino said Wednesday that she is leaving her role at Elon Musk’s social media company after two years.

“When @elonmusk and I initially discussed his vision for X, I realized it was a once-in-a-lifetime chance to implement the remarkable mission of this company,” she shared in a post on the platform.

“I am profoundly thankful to him for trusting me with the role of safeguarding free speech, revitalizing the company, and evolving X into the Everything App,” she continued.

Yaccarino joined X, previously known as Twitter, in 2023, roughly six months following Musk’s turbulent acquisition of the platform. She transitioned from NBCUniversal Media, where she had been the chair of the company’s global advertising and partnerships division.

“I’m incredibly proud of the X team — the historic business turn around we have accomplished together has been nothing short of remarkable,” Yaccarino said Wednesday. “We started with the critical early work necessary to prioritize the safety of our users — especially children, and to restore advertiser confidence.”

The X CEO navigated several major changes at the platform, including its rebranding from Twitter to X, as well as numerous crises.

Advertisers fled the site after Musk’s takeover, as he began rolling back various content moderation policies and restoring previously banned accounts, including that of President Trump.

Yaccarino’s exit comes just a day after Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) company xAI said it was deleting X posts from its chatbot, Grok, after it began producing antisemitic responses. Grok reportedly also produced several posts praising Adolf Hitler, although most appear to have since been deleted.
