Sangamon, Menard Co. Crime Stoppers seeking tips on forgery, theft suspect

The Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties are seeking assistance in gathering more details about a woman involved in a forgery and theft incident in Springfield last month.

Working with the Springfield Police Department, Crime Stoppers aims to identify a white female connected to a forgery and theft case at First Bankers Trust located at 2201 Wabash, Springfield. The incident took place on June 26, when the suspect entered the bank posing as a customer, utilizing a counterfeit passport featuring her photograph but the victim’s details.

The woman then withdrew more than $7,000 from the account. Now, Crime Stoppers is seeking help from the public in identifying this suspect.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 217-788-8427, submit a tip online, or use the P3 app. Information leading to an arrest may qualify for a cash reward of up to $2,500.
