Wisconsin Teen Charged With Gunning Down Father After He Kicked Him Out of Apartment

A teenager from Wisconsin is currently in custody, accused of fatally shooting his father just two weeks after being expelled from their shared apartment.

According to police, 18-year-old Corey Williams Jr. and his mother visited the apartment on July 2 to collect Williams’ siblings, as reported by WITI. A criminal complaint details that an argument broke out between Williams’ parents. Williams claimed his father, 47-year-old Corey Williams Sr., was armed. Williams stated his father grabbed him by the collar and started to rough him up, prompting him to retrieve a different gun and fire it at least five times.

This week in court, Court commissioner Barry Williams questioned prosecutors about whether the father possessed a gun, but they could not provide an answer. Investigators discovered two firearms at the scene, yet the prosecutors were unsure if any were found near the father’s body.

Assistant District Attorney Karine O’Byrne told the court that other family members present in the house said they didn’t see either man with a gun, but everyone — including Williams — agreed that the teen shot his father.

Defense Attorney Jade Hall told WITI that it was “an extremely sad case for a variety of reasons.”

“Mr. Williams tells me this is not the first time that the alleged victim has abused him,” Hall said.

Williams, who has no prior criminal history, was ordered held on a $10,000 bond and ordered to have no weapons. He is due in court on July 14, when he will face a charge of second-degree reckless homicide – use of a dangerous weapon.
