Illini soccer gearing up for year one with Hultin, non-conference schedule released

Illinois Soccer Prepares for Hultin’s Debut Season, Announces Non-Conference Lineup

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois women’s soccer has unveiled the first non-conference schedule of the Katie Hultin era.

The Illini will kick off the season with an exhibition match against Marquette on August 7, followed by another exhibition game at IU Indy on August 10.

The official season starts with back-to-back road games, facing UIC on August 14 and Bowling Green on August 17. They will then return for the regular season home opener against Boston College on August 25.

Illinois will conclude August with a three-game road trip, visiting DePaul, Kentucky, and Mizzou. The non-conference schedule will finish with a home match against Valparaiso on September 7.

Katie Hultin was named head coach following the retirement of Janet Rayfield. Before serving as the head coach at Grand Valley State, she was on staff at Illinois as an assistant.

“We have some of the best facilities in the country, but it’s not about the facilities,” said Hultin. “It’s the people around all of these amazing facilities and just the camaraderie behind Illinois athletics and University of Illinois itself is pretty spectacular and just the generosity and compassion that everyone has here. But at the same time, everyone’s so competitive and just wants to win.”

Illinois finished the 2024 season with an 8-8-2 record.
