Katie Maloney has experimented with numerous hairstyles over the years. One of her standout looks was during Season 2 of Vanderpump Rules, when she rocked golden blonde hair.

Recently, Katie discussed this style on her podcast, Disrespectfully, which she co-hosts with VPR alum and close friend Dayna Kathan. On the show, Dayna inquired about Katie’s “Season 2 golden hair” from VPR.

“What did you put on your hair to make your hair that color? Was it just bleached?” Dayna asked.

“No, I was getting it professionally lightened,” Katie confessed. She explained that her hairstylist had been gradually “lifting” her hair color over time, transitioning her from the brunette shade she had in Season 1 of Vanderpump Rules.

“But I started filming that season mid-process of it all,” she continued. “So I couldn’t all of a sudden just become like, platinum blonde.”

But she has no regrets about her hair transformation. “You know, it wasn’t terrible,” she added. “It’s just in some photos, it looks a little odd. In person, it wasn’t too bad.”

“I also think it’s kinda iconic,” Dayna concluded.

Tom Schwartz’s reaction to Katie Maloney’s blonde hair

The hair was even a surprise for Katie’s ex, Tom Schwartz, whom she was dating at the time. Tom filmed a video for BravoTV.com of Katie coming home from the salon at the time, where they talked about this new change for her. “Bubba, you’re blonde!” he said in the video.

“I’m like a shade of blonde,” Katie replied. “It’s kinda like a caramel-y, honey kinda color.”

“It’s a little orange-y,” he admitted. “But it looks good!”

But this isn’t the only time that Katie was blonde. In throwback photos from her childhood, Katie can be seen having sandy blonde-colored hair.

In one set of photos from her childhood, Katie can be seen lifting some weights and wearing a leotard, while her blonde hair was fashioned in some blunt bangs. She looked so cute.

Katie now chooses to rock a sleek, dark bob, which can be attributed to an evolution in her personal style. During a 2023 Instagram Q&A, Katie opened up about what goes into putting together an outfit and developing her personal style.

“It varies (obviously) but it always depends on my mood,” she wrote. “And I usually match my mood or try to invoke a mood. [Interpret] this however you want, but sometimes I’m like, ‘Damn, I feel like wearing something slutty.’ And other times, I’m like, ‘I want to wear the baggiest clothes I can find.’ I like [to] mix media and patterns and textures and things that are unexpected.”
