SC man found guilty in relation to 2023 hotel fatal shooting

AUGUSTA, Ga. () – A South Carolina man was found guilty in relation to the fatal shooting at a hotel in January of 2023.

Richard Moore, a 42-year-old resident of Silverstreet, S.C., was convicted for the deadly shooting of 62-year-old Barry Lew from Augusta, as reported by the District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities state that the incident happened January 8th, 2023 at the Suburban Inn located off of Claussen Road.

The District Attorney’s Office revealed that Moore was convicted on three counts of Felony Murder, along with charges of Possession of a Firearm during a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He received a Life sentence without the possibility of parole, plus an extra 15 years for the gun-related offenses.

Additionally, the D.A.’s Office mentioned that the co-defendant, 22-year-old Demorea Wallace, who had no previous criminal record, admitted to Aggravated Assault and was sentenced to 10 years, with the first two years to be served in prison.
