Long County Health Department adds primary care services

LUDOCIWI, Ga. () — Long County Health Department (LGHD) is now offering services to residents close to home.

Primary Care Services Introduced by Long County Health Department
Angela Hartley, nursing director at Coastal Health District.

Angela Hartley, who is a nurse practitioner and the nursing director for the Coastal Health District, is now scheduling primary care appointments on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Services offered encompass treatment for minor ailments such as strep throat, sinus infections, ear infections, and colds. The clinic also delivers continuous care for chronic illnesses including high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol.

Routine wellness exams and sports physicals are also available.

These services complement the department’s main public health initiatives, including immunizations, family planning, and STD testing and treatment.

“Residents of our rural counties often have very few options for primary care and sometimes

have to travel outside the county for minor illness or chronic disease management,” said

Hartley. “We’re excited to now offer quality primary care close to home.”

LCHD accepts Medicaid, Medicare and many private insurance plans.
