During his second official visit to China, the PM plans to meet with President Xi Jinping and promote a new campaign designed to attract more Chinese tourists to Australia.
Albanese is scheduled to meet Xi later in the week in Beijing.
With the federal government eager to boost tourism, there is a push to increase the number of Chinese visitors, as the figures have not yet rebounded to pre-COVID levels.
A new tourism advertisement is set to be released as part of Tourism Australia’s “Come and Say G’day” campaign.
The PM will preside over a new agreement between Tourism Australia and Trip.com during his stay in China.
“It’s a tremendous privilege to represent Australia on the global stage, and this is a significant meeting we will undertake here,” Albanese stated upon landing in Shanghai.
“The fact that I’m leading a large business delegation speaks to the importance of the economic relationship between Australia and China.”
