Seating scuffle breaks out at socialite's Bastille Day bash

Vive la Révolution!

The white gloves came off at NYC socialite Jean Shafiroff’s annual Bastille Day luncheon on Monday afternoon, we hear.

The elegantly dressed socialite hosted an event to commemorate the 1789 storming of the Bastille at the brand new Maison Barnes located within Café Boulud on the Upper East Side.

But the revolutionary luncheon hit a snag — as spies told Page Six there was a veritable war over the seating arrangement. Quelle horreur!

“Some people had to face the wall, and those crazy Upper East Side spoiled ladies were not having it,” a source huffed to Page Six.

One of the attendees even committed the social blunder of switching place cards, which caused a stir with the woman whose card had been displaced. It’s reported that the accused initially denied any wrongdoing but later asserted, “I’m not going to move! I know Jean better,” while putting her hand up in her face, which escalated the situation into a confrontation.

“[The other woman] left early because she was so pissed,” the insider added.

Shafiroff was not impressed with the behavior, stating, “The etiquette rule [is] you never change the seats. It’s rule No.1,” she explained when contacted about the incident. “I heard that people were moving them around. I don’t really like that,” she added.

Meanwhile, former “Real Housewives of New York City” star Ramona Singer and Julia Haart of “My Unorthodox Life” had no problem with their seating assignments.

“Below Deck” star Captain Kerry Titheradge was sandwiched between the two reality stars — and sources told us the women were flirting.

We hear Haart even planted a kiss on his cheek, while Singer, “was flipping her hair trying to get his attention back,” a partygoer told us.

The ladies did not comment. (Singer hung up on us after saying she couldn’t talk. How rude!)

Shafiroff told us of the captain’s table “I was more interested in seating the single women around Captain Kerry because he’s single and I thought some of them would like to sit around him,” she admitted.

(According to reports, the captain is indeed divorced, but has a girlfriend.)

With the exception of married designer Nicole Miller, “He was at a table full of single women all around him. I think he enjoyed it… Call me matchmaker of the city,” the party’s host quipped.

Clothes horse Shafiroff had two outfit changes for the occasion instead of her usual three-to-four gowns, “because it wasn’t my house,” she said.

She stuck to a high neck Alice + Olivia number despite the scorching temps.

“I wasn’t on theme… but then I looked at Vogue, and Anne Hathaway is wearing a high-neck thing in [the] August [issue], so it can’t be that bad,” she said. (We’re pretty sure the August issue is meant for fall fashion?)

Whatever the explanation, the socialite changed into a Dolce & Gabbana frock she paired with two long crosses. “It was my take on Madonna,” she explained.

As for her review of Daniel Boulud’s latest spot? “The place is beautiful, and the food is delicious,” she concluded.
