HARLEM, Ga. () – A local nonprofit sells homemade items to continue its mission. And they’re taking their products online.

Mad Hatter Farm and Rescue offers candles, soaps, laundry detergent, and more. All proceeds support the rescue animals, foster and medically fragile children, and special needs families residing at the farm.

Maria, a customer, remarked, “Wanna come out and support her and get some great soap and some other lovely things she has here in the shed. So, it’s really just giving back to the community and paying it forward.”

Jill Marier and her husband adopted their terminally ill daughter, Cassie, at 3 months old. Following Cassie’s passing, Marier channeled her grief into creating a haven for families with special needs children, which became Mad Hatter Farm and Rescue in Harlem. They have received significant support from beyond just the CSRA.

“We’ve actually gotten it to 100 to 200 bars a week that were shipped out all around the United States,” said Jill Marier, Owner and Founder, Mad Hatter Farm and Rescue.

Marier believes in giving sick and injured animals and children a chance to heal each other.

“We rescue horses and farm animals locally and actually surrounding states as well we have done that. So, we use animals to heal children, and children to heal animals,” said Marier.

While the donations help keep Mad Hatter Farm and Rescue open, Marier says it’s all about giving back. And she hopes the support continues to help the farm flourish.

“The proceeds go to keeping their farm running and everything that we have going on. So, it pays for all the animals’ care and everything,” said Marier.

“We have definitely stayed up till 1 o’clock in the morning wrapping soaps, and I would love to see that keep happening,” said Taylor Drinkard, Live-in Farm Hand.

You can visit the on-site location in Harlem, called “The Shed,” or order online through Etsy.

You can find her Etsy shop here, and The Shed is located at 1602 Hinton Wilson Rd Harlem, Ga. For more on Mad Hatter Farm and Rescue and what they offer, you can visit their website here.
