TikTok is putting the spotlight on songwriters

TikTok is now introducing a feature that allows songwriters to feature tracks they’ve composed or collaborated on directly in their profiles. These tracks will be available under the “Music” tab on their profile, much like the feature already available for artists on TikTok. Songwriters who register will also be displayed with a “Songwriter” label beneath their profile name.

These advancements build on TikTok’s existing suite of tools for songwriters, which includes the “New” tag for recently released tracks and an option for users to save these songs on music streaming platforms. Additionally, TikTok launched the “BehindTheSong” hub in 2023 for songwriters, artists, and producers to discuss the creation process of their music. This is complemented by the “Off the Record” series, which features artists such as Shakira, Charli XCX, and Meghan Trainor.

Currently, TikTok is introducing the new songwriter features in a closed beta with a select group of publisher partners. Songwriters and publishers interested in these updates can join a waitlist to access the features later.
