CHICAGO (WGN) — Renowned pop singer Connie Francis, famously known for her chartbuster “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool” and the popular tune “Pretty Little Baby,” has passed away at the age of 87.

Her passing was announced through a Facebook update by her copyright manager, Ron Roberts, on Thursday morning. The announcement later appeared on Connie Francis’s official artist page on Facebook as well.

“With a heavy heart and deep sorrow, I share the news of my dear friend Connie Francis’s passing last night. Connie would have wanted her fans to be among the first to hear this sad news,” Roberts stated in the post.

Francis, who was born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1937, rose to fame as a singer in the 1950s and early 1960s and went on to sell millions of records worldwide throughout her decades-long career.

Most recently, Francis saw a resurgence in fame when her 1962 song “Pretty Little Baby” went viral on TikTok. She later joined the social media platform, thanking a handful of celebrities for sharing her tune.

While the cause of death remains unclear, the chart-topping singer’s death comes after weeks of posts shared on Facebook regarding “extreme pain” the singer began experiencing in early July.

In a post shared on July 2, Francis noted that she was in the hospital, forcing her to cancel an appearance. Later that day, she noted that she had been moved to a private room at the hospital following a series of tests and examinations in intensive care.

The singer’s final post came on the Fourth of July when she shared an update stating that she was feeling “much better.”
