TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The CEO of Astronomer, a tech company based in New York, stepped down on Saturday after a moment caught on camera during a Massachusetts Coldplay concert led to widespread speculation.

A video that circulated widely showed a couple at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday quickly ducking out of sight after being televised on the big screen during a Coldplay concert.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin teased the two after witnessing their reaction.

“Either they’re having an affair or they’re really shy,” Martin said.

Not long after, rumors began to circulate, connecting the couple to the tech company.

On Friday, Astronomer responded to the rumors by releasing a statement on the social media platform X, announcing that their CEO, Andy Byron, had been placed on leave pending an investigation.

On Saturday, the company released a follow-up statement announcing that Andy Byron had tendered his resignation and the Board of Directors had accepted.

“Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI. While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not. We’re continuing to do what we do best: helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems.”
