SAVANNAH, Ga () – Today, the extreme heat and humidity persist, with temperatures nearing 100 degrees once more. The heat index, or how hot it feels, is expected to range from 108 to 110 degrees this afternoon. Make sure to keep cool and hydrated, find shade or air-conditioned areas, and avoid heavy outdoor activities for long durations.
The intense heat will persist into Monday, though there is a slight increase in the likelihood of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Most of these storms will be typical of summer, but a few might become strong to severe, with gusty winds being the main concern.
Relief from the heat is expected on Tuesday as a cold front passes through. Highs will dip to the lower 90s, offering a much-needed break. As the front stalls to our south, rain chances will persist through the end of the week, while temperatures remain a bit below average, in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
Enjoy the cooldown while it lasts, it’s July, and more intense heat is likely on the way!
