Chelsea ended the 2024/25 season on a memorable note by not only clinching the revamped Club World Cup but also celebrating in grand style with American football’s elite.
Under the management of Enzo Maresca, the team was impressive in the final, defeating European champions Paris Saint-Germain 3–0 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Cole Palmer scored twice, and João Pedro contributed with another goal, marking his third in two games, to clinch the title.
Among the notable guests was U.S. President Donald Trump, who made a surprise lengthy visit at the trophy presentation, along with NFL legend Tom Brady, who observed from Trump’s private suite before joining Chelsea for an unforgettable evening.
After lifting the trophy, Chelsea’s jubilant squad returned to their team hotel where hundreds of fans had gathered to welcome them back as world champions. The celebrations continued into the night with a private party, where players, staff and VIP guests toasted the end of a gruelling 11-month campaign.
Brady – a seven-time Super Bowl winner – was a special guest at the event, with several Chelsea players queuing up for photos with the American legend. New signing Darrio Essugo shared a snap on Instagram Stories labelling Brady the GOAT and looked particularly thrilled to meet him.
There were also karaoke performances from the squad – including Moisés Caicedo, echoing scenes from their Europa Conference League triumph in May – while Maresca, the architect of Chelsea’s success, was also pictured celebrating with staff at the New York party.
João Pedro, whose £60 million move from Brighton is already looking like a bargain, featured in a behind-the-scenes clip shared by the club from the dressing room post-match.
“João, you were on holiday and now you are a world champion,” he was told. Smiling, he simply replied: “What can I say – this is Chelsea.”
That’ll no doubt be music to the ears of Blues fans everywhere.
