The music world mourns the loss of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at 76 on July 22, 2025, surrounded by family.

Kelly’s Emotional Tribute: A Daughter’s Grief

In her first public statement since Ozzy’s death, Kelly shared a poignant message on Instagram:

“I feel unhappy. I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.”

The lyrics, originally from Black Sabbath’s 1972 ballad, hold significant personal value. In 2003, Kelly and Ozzy created a new version of “Changes” with altered lyrics, turning it into a song of family bond rather than heartbreak. This track reached number one in the UK charts, making them the second father-daughter pair (after Frank and Nancy Sinatra) to accomplish this honor.

Her heartfelt post on a plain black background captures the intense pain of losing a parent—someone who was more than a rock legend, but her trusted confidant. Just two days before he passed, Kelly had posted a touching video of Ozzy during breakfast, warmly greeting the camera with “Good morning!”, a cheerful memory now forever cherished.

The Final Days: A Family’s Farewell

Ozzy’s death came weeks after his final Black Sabbath performance in Birmingham, where Kelly got engaged to her longtime partner, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson. In a bittersweet twist, Ozzy witnessed the proposal backstage, jokingly protesting,

“F**k off, you’re not marrying my daughter!”

before the couple embraced.

Despite his declining health, Parkinson’s disease and mobility struggles from a 2019 spinal injury, Ozzy remained defiant against rumors of his imminent death. Kelly had recently slammed AI-generated videos falsely depicting him saying, “I know I’m going to die,” calling them “disgusting” and clarifying, “He’s not dying. What is wrong with you?”.

Tributes Pour In: From Elton John to Fans Worldwide

The Osbourne family’s official statement emphasized Ozzy’s peaceful passing:

“He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Celebrities like Elton John honored the “Prince of Darkness,” writing:

“So sad to hear the news… a true legend. I will miss him dearly.”

Meanwhile, Jack Osbourne’s ex-wife, Lisa Stelly, shared a touching tribute to Ozzy as a grandfather:

“The world got Ozzy. We got Papa.”
