Trump and Powell feud explodes in public

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – A top Department of Justice lawyer says interviews with Ghislaine Maxwell will continue Friday.

Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend is serving a 20-year prison sentence for helping him abuse underage girls.

The Department of Justice has not released any recent updates, but Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has indicated an intention to have another meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell.

“There were a lot of questions, and we went all day,” said David Oscar Markus, Ghislaine Maxwell’s attorney.

Maxwell’s attorney says DOJ hasn’t promised her a deal or pardon.

“No promises yet, so she’s just answering questions for now,” said Markus.

President Trump called the attention on the Jeffrey Epstein case a scam and turned his attention to the Federal Reserve.

He and Federal reserve Chair Jerome Powell argued over renovation costs.

Presidents, by tradition, have avoided commenting on decisions by the Federal Reserve out of respect the fed’s independence from politics.

In response to a question about how Powell might evade criticism, President Trump remarked, “Well, I’d love him to lower interest rates. Other than that, what can I tell you?”

President Trump hinted at the potential of dismissing Powell. Experts have cautioned that removing the head of the Fed, or the Fed losing its independence, could trigger a stock market crisis.
