The wrestling community is deeply mourning the sudden passing of Hulk Hogan, an iconic figure in sports entertainment. The WWE Hall of Famer, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died at the age of 71 following a reported cardiac arrest at his residence in Clearwater, Florida, on July 24, 2025.

Emergency personnel quickly responded to a call made at 9:51 AM from his home. He was transported via stretcher to Morton Plant Hospital. Sadly, despite efforts to revive him, Hogan was declared dead shortly after arriving.

Hulk Hogan’s Health Issues Before His Passing

Leading up to his passing, Hogan had been dealing with various health issues, including a neck surgery in May and a major heart procedure in June. His wife, Sky Daily, had previously downplayed concerns about his health, asserting that his heart was “strong.”

However, given his long history of injuries, from back surgeries to knee replacements and shoulder operations, it’s likely these issues contributed to his decline.

WWE and Fellow Wrestlers Pay Their Respects

WWE issued an official statement confirming Hogan’s passing:

“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”

Wrestling icon Ric Flair shared heartfelt words on X (formerly Twitter):

“Hulk Has Been By My Side Since We Started In The Wrestling Business. An Incredible Athlete, Talent, Friend, And Father! Our Friendship Has Meant The World To Me. He Was Always There For Me Even When I Didn’t Ask For Him To Be.”

The Legacy of Hulkamania

Hogan’s impact wasn’t limited to wrestling; he became a crossover sensation in Hollywood with roles in films like Rocky III and No Holds Barred, and later starred in the reality show Hogan Knows Best. His vibrant personality and memorable catchphrases, such as

“Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”

made him a household name.

Despite facing controversies throughout his life, including a scandal involving racist remarks in 2015 and various financial struggles, his influence on both pop culture and professional wrestling remains unparalleled.
