PESOTUM, Ill. (WCIA) — Multiple fire departments in Champaign County are actively responding to a house fire in Pesotum.
The Savoy Fire Department, along with Villa Grove Fire & Rescue, were part of the teams that answered a mutual aid request from nearby regions.
Eddie Bain, a spokesperson for Savoy Fire, told WCIA his department was ultimately not needed, but confirmed that there is a working fire in a house.
Dustin Heuerman, the Champaign County Sheriff, confirmed that a deputy is on-scene assisting the firefighters.
Bain and Heuerman directed WCIA to seek more details from the Pesotum Fire Protection District, since they are in charge of the situation. WCIA has contacted the Pesotum Fire Protection District but is still awaiting a response.
This is a developing story.
