Dangerous trail leaves hikers stranded overnight on Maine's highest mountain

Four hikers were rescued on Friday in Maine on Maine’s tallest mountain, according to officials.

Officials from Baxter State Park in Maine reported that two groups of hikers found themselves in trouble on Thursday night after dark on the Knife Edge trail on Mount Katahdin, which has a peak height of over 5,000 feet.

One of the hikers was a email in her 30’s and had an “unstable knee injury,” but the three other hikers weren’t injured.

“This situation began Thursday night after dark, seemingly involving two separate groups of hikers stranded on the Knife Edge. One hiker, a woman in her 30s, has suffered a severe knee injury. The remaining three hikers are unharmed,” stated the state park.
