A SUSPICIOUS vehicle sparked a security scare at Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire golf resort – as the US President prepared to end his Scotland trip.

Police Scotland set up a cordon at an entrance to the Menie Estate, as media, staff, and security teams were relocated to a secured area, with photos revealing a bomb squad unit present on the site.

Large police vans blocked the main road past the course just after 3pm as bomb squads swooped on the scene.

A plain-clothed US operative with an earpiece was heard saying that a “bunch of liquid” was being examined, and that a substance was being tested.

But cops later confirmed a suspicious vehicle was found within the perimeters of the venue.

This led to a gradual evacuation, involving G4S personnel supervising airport-style security at the entrance, numerous police officers, journalists, and VIPs who were continually instructed to move further from the course.

Some locals who were watching proceedings from their front yards were moved out with reporters and VIPs amid the incident.

The force said the search has now been completed and that no criminality was established.

A representative from Police Scotland stated: “Military colleagues in EOD have informed us that additional searches of the vehicle have now been finished.”

“There is no risk and cordons are in the process of being lifted. It was a false alarm with good intent.”

This coincides with Mr. Trump formally launching a new golf course at his Aberdeenshire resort, mentioning he would play a quick round before heading back to Washington to “put out fires all over the world.”

The U.S. president began his game at The New Course in Menie before a gathering that included golfers, the Scottish First Minister, and the Scottish Labour leader.

Mr. Trump also mentioned the late James Bond star Sir Sean Connery‘s purported support for his golf resort, even trying to mimic the actor’s voice.

Just before hitting the first ball at the New Course, the US president told those gathered on a grandstand: “We started with a beautiful piece of land, but we made it much more beautiful.

“The area has really welcomed us. If you remember at the beginning there wasn’t quite a welcome, but it wasn’t bad.

“But with time they liked us more and more, now they love us and we love them.”

Mr Trump added: “I look forward to playing it today.

“We’ll play it very quickly and then I go back to DC and we put out fires all over the world.

“We did one yesterday – you know we stopped the war. We’ve stopped about five wars.

“That’s much more important than playing golf. As much as I like it, it’s much more important.”

Mr Trump will head back to the US later on Tuesday on Air Force One, as his Scottish visit comes to a close.
