SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties are seeking assistance from the public in an ongoing murder case.

On March 13, 2024, 54-year-old Teresa Coleman was discovered deceased on the southbound ramp of I-55 at Stevenson Drive in Springfield, following her disappearance. At that time, Jim Allmon, the Sangamon County Coroner, stated that initial examination results indicated her death was a homicide.

Recently, 57-year-old Robert Lee Jr. was apprehended on charges of first-degree murder for allegedly killing Coleman. According to the Illinois State Police, a comprehensive investigation led special agents to identify Lee as the culprit.

On July 24, Lee faced a court arraignment where he entered a plea of not guilty and was denied pretrial release. Lee is scheduled to appear in court again on August 4.

Although a suspect has been arrested, investigators said there may be additional individuals with

knowledge or involvement in the crime. Now, State Police and Crime Stoppers are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

Providing tips that lead to further arrests may reward you with up to $5,000. You can report anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427, visiting their website, or using the P3 app.
