Mugshot of James Andrew McGann.

THE terrifying mugshot of the man accused of murdering two parents in front of their daughters on a hiking trail has been released.

James Andrew McGann, a 28-year-old former elementary school teacher, was apprehended after a five-day search, looking unkempt and angry in his arrest photograph.

McGann is charged with two murder counts following the discovery of Clinton and Cristen Brink’s bodies on a secluded path in Devil’s Den State Park, located in northwest Arkansas, on Saturday.

He was arrested on Wednesday evening at a hair salon in Springdale, Arkansas.

Disturbing new information has emerged regarding McGann, who, according to police, relocated from Oklahoma to take a teaching job at a local elementary school.

Springdale Public Schools confirmed McGann was hired to teach third grade in the upcoming school year, ABC News reported.

The school district said he has not come in contact with any Springdale students or their families.

SPS didn’t immediately return The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

McGann was a fifth-grade teacher for Broken Arrow Public Schools in Oklahoma during the 2023-2024 school year.

He also previously taught fourth grade in Lewisville, Texas, according to reports on social media.

McGann didn’t know the couple he is accused of killing, police said at a press conference on Wednesday night.

Colonel Stacie Rhoads with the Arkansas State Police said she couldn’t comment on a motive, but said more information will be released later.

Authorities initiated an extensive search after McGann allegedly attacked the Brink family in the middle of the day while they were hiking with their daughters, ages 7 and 9, according to reports from Arkansas State Police.

The two girls weren’t hurt in the attack and are safe with relatives, cops said.

The Brink and Osgood families released a statement saying, “Clinton and Kristen died as heroes while protecting their young girls, and they deserve justice. Their memory will endure in our hearts forever.”
